Starlight at Four Seasons Hotel

Starlight at Four Seasons Hotel

Last April I got the chance to be at the Tribeca Opening night in New York. It was the night of the world premiere of the movie United 93.
After the premiere, I followed the crowd of dressed up guests, who where heading to the After Party at the Marriott Hotel.
For an unfortunate case, that day I had fever and I was dead tired! I was wearing $20 jeans from Target, $8 sneakers from Payless shoes and I was carrying a huge bag full of staff! As you can imagine, I was surrounded by skinny and beautiful ladies all dressed up, with expensive shoes and tiny little purses!
Once I arrived at the Marriott (on a private bus that took all the guests from the theatre to the hotel), I went to the restroom to make up and for a few seconds I stared at it! It was so beautiful and elegant! I took this shot , which I really love!
The end of the story: I tried my best to make myself look a little bit more elegant, then I went straight to the entrance of the party, but the security stopped me! I had the wrong invitation, which means: I wasn't supposed to be at the party, I wasn't even supposed to get on that private bus!
I asked at the PR girl if she had any invitation on my name, but she couldn't find it. So I told her: "If I'm not supposed to get in, I won't get in, it's not a problem" and I was ready to go away (sincerely happy to go to bed), but she looked fed up and answered: "Ok, ok, here's your ticket"!
I can't believe how easier it is to get something, when you don't care for it that much! Later on, a girl I know who would have killed to be there, tried to convince the PR girl to let her in, but she couldn't! She was so envious of me! Ihihihih! ;)
So I was there, at a cool Manhattan party, surrounded by famous actors and directors! I'm never gonna be at a party like this ever again!
These are the things that can only happen in New York City!!!

Novotel Good - Sheraton Bad

Novotel Good - Sheraton Bad

View from my room at the Sheraton Manhattan. The red building is the Novotel, where I stayed a few years back (in 2003, I think - thanks to my mom for picking up the bill at the time ;)). Novotel experience was one of my best hotel experiences ever: 32nd floor, Times Square view, nice room, nice restaurant (inside the greenish glass-covered section straight across from my current room at the Sheraton Manhattan. The Sheraton experience was surprisingly bad in comparison: Mediocre room (cf. the following pictures), hardly any view, and, the most annoying thing: Pool advertised (that was part of the reason why I chose the hotel), but permanently closed for renovation, no compensation offered. Well done, Sheraton! So I recommend the Novotel, but stay away from the Sheraton!
